Commissioned Wall Unit

I had a lot of fun with this one! For a client wanting to make something of her long wall, this is what I came up with.

Chase & Sorensen

Latest project finished a couple of weeks ago. Danish-American furniture shop and coffee shop Chase and Sorensen. Designed by Darrick Borowski, who created one of my favourite projects. Anyway, my friend Karl Rees and I, got to build it and below are some during and after pictures.

Press

My coffee table is in the latest issue of IDFX. Awesome, my first press ever, not the last for sure! Sharing the page with the likes of Lee Broom (who definitely nicked my idea for his new Parq Life series…or maybe I just wish I’d made it first ;) ) which is really cool!

Page 15 y’all!

The new playground

Before my holiday, I moved in to my new workshop.

Now that I’m back, I have spent a couple of days settling in, organising the space a bit and I am absolutely loving it! If you find yourself in Dalston, please drop by and say hello!

…I am going to have so much fun here!           …want to go to there now….

Anyway,

Ashwin Workshop, end of Abbot Street, call or text or email or other!

The new pictures

Here are the new pictures of the A.V. Desk and the No News coffee table, think I should change that name to Good News coffee table. Yes, done. So here are the fabulous new images of the A.V. desk and the GOOD News coffee table. Photos taken by the amazing Jamie McGregor Smith.

Fantastic news!

Received great news yesterday, was offered a workbench at Ashwin Workshop on Ashwin Street in Dalston. Am so incredibly excited, hasn’t really sunken in yet. Bar will be raised on the 1st of August!

Had a photo shoot yesterday morning with Jamie Smith of the No News coffee table and the A.V. Desk. Went great and am eagerly looking forward to seeing the results!

Immense gratitude to all who have been around to inspire, help and support me!

Success!

Opening was great, everything was finished on time, albeit with 36 seconds to spare. Thank you all who came!

The desk was sold by 8pm, extremely pleased! They are made to order, contact me here.

I am working on a couple of new projects:

No More Weekdays, where I will have a web shop among other things, watch that space!

Second project is together with Sam Hextall, Graham Smith, and Davide Bianchi. It is not really official yet but we are going to exhibit for the London Design Festival in September. Some old pieces but definitely some new ones as well!

In the mean time, here is some info and some pictures of the desk.

Summer Show at Our House

Tonight is the annual summer show at Our House gallery and I’ve been working hard to finish a new and improved desk and 9 Book End lamps to be featured in a light installation. Pictures will follow!

Ladder upcycled

Vintage ladder from East London home, unit from black MDF and painted MDF back board.

Project Pine

A couple of weeks ago we, Graham and I, started a new project here in east London. We were to build a mezzanine bed, a wardrobe and a corner unit with shelves. Later a desk was added. I decided to keep going with the pine used in the mezzanine. Inspired by Swedish and Japanese interior design in the overall plan, the idea for the drawer ‘handles’ came from Kerf. The wardrobe and corner unit was designed and built by Graham, unfortunately no pictures of the wardrobe were taken as it had been put to good use. Above and below are the results.

Book end lamp

This is and idea I had a while back cause I wanted to brighten up our book shelf. It is made out reclaimed oak flooring, fabric covered cable, the bulb is a 125mm globe, low wattage halogen with a brass tough dimmer.

Frank – Whitstable

Got these pictures sent to us by Mary Claire at Frank taken by Andrew Hayes Watkins, hence the difference in quality :)

Picture quality

I know the quality of the pictures aren’t the best and that is because the only camera I seem to have available when I remember to take photos is my iPhone and unfortunately the quality is a bit poor…

Quilted desk for Frank

Instead of the old Ikea table they had before, nothing wrong with Ikea (I am Swedish after all….), Graham and I decided to create a desk that filled certain criteria. Bubble wrap and wrapping paper needed to function with the desk. After seeing Dutch designer Piet Hein Eeks work, I felt inspired to use up a bunch of left over pieces of WBP ply, Marine ply and birch ply. As a solution I made hooks at one end to hold a roll of bubble wrap and a shelf for the wrapping paper. Unfortunately we had to paint it white as anything else would take too much focus in the small shop, I think the result was good in both finishes. Later we also painted the bottom drawer in a (VERY) bright orange and it actually worked!

Plan chest

This was part of the Frank project. They wanted a new display unit for their jewellery and smaller shop items and also storage for the art works, so we decided upon a plan chest with a glass top. I do not remember the exact measurements any more but it is made out of 9mm-18mm birch ply and gorgeous peach coloured wheels, they had actually not arrived at this photo moment but there will be pictures of the project as a whole at a later date.

Desk One

Well, this is actually desk two but this is the first one that I want to keep making and maybe put in production. It is made out of walnut veneered MDF, drawers in solid walnut, drawer unit in MDF painted in Danish Blue (own concoction) , stand is black painted tulipwood. I made it 110cm x 55cm to fit the very limited space usually found in the London home.

No1.

Welcome to the new website! Have gone with wordpress as it seems relatively simple to update and maintain. Hopefully there will be some updates in the next few days with pictures of the furniture and lamps I’ve designed and built so far. Also bigger projects and collaborations with friends will be here as soon as I can.
